SOLDER DIPPING / SOLDER TINNING

Tinning is an operation that involves applying a layer of tin to a metal or other part. The tin coating is applied by immersing the part in a bath of molten tin.

When tinning large parts, tin is used in the form of anodes (see photos of different anodes below). Anodes are also used in electrolytic tinning applications.

In industry, tinning is mainly used in the electrical and electronics sector, as it protects the part (particularly copper) against corrosion, provides good electrical conductivity and improves the solderability of the part.

MBO has a whole range of alloys and fluxes suitable for the tinning process. These include standard alloys (see Solder Wires table) as well as versions with special additives for improved temperature resistance (HT version).
